Advantages
Effective for treating ADHD, but it holds no advantage over other

The brand name is expensive, the generics are very inexpensive and Adderall is usually covered by insurance.
Disadvantages
More likely than methylphenidate medications to caused irritability as it wears off in the afternoon, and more likely to cause appetite reduction.
There are about 50 FDA-approved ADHD medications, but only a handful of unique ones. Drug companies create the extra versions by changing the dosage, delivery method (pill, liquid, patch, etc.), and duration (short-acting vs. long-acting).
